Stripe and Tempo introduced the Machine Payments Protocol as an open standard for programmatic payments. It addresses requests where a software client needs to understand payment terms and complete a transaction without a person checking out each time.
The protocol is designed for use cases including micropayments, recurring charges, and paid access to APIs or MCP resources. A common protocol layer can reduce one-off integrations between an agent, a resource provider, and payment infrastructure.
For Agent Trust Hub, MPP support remains a separate observed fact. A real payment check must account for wallet policy, transaction outcome, receipt, and reconciliation; the presence of an MPP endpoint does not establish those results by itself.
