Cloudflare announces programmable wallets for AI agents

Cloudflare announced Wallets, which it plans to provide with x402 payment support and spending controls defined by the person responsible for the wallet.

Cloudflare announced Wallets, a future programmable wallet for situations where an AI agent needs to pay for a digital resource. Under the announced model, a person will define spending constraints in advance and the agent will operate inside those rules instead of receiving unrestricted access to funds.

Cloudflare plans to use x402 for the payment flow. The announcement also names agent identity as context for a future transaction; the mechanism and its actual use will need to be checked against technical documentation when the capability becomes available.

A trustworthy directory must keep protocol support, wallet configuration, and a completed transaction separate. A product announcement does not prove that a particular agent has paid; that event needs its own receipt and reconciliation record.
